Heavenly Father
Today, as in every day, I go into this world confronting my enemy
who works to shipwreck my life and sideline my soul.
I am ever grateful that You give the gift of Yourself and Your Word
to face the battle and defeat my foe.
Your Son’s Cross quickens my heart and fortifies my mind
for He gave so much that I might live an abundant life.
Your indwelling Spirit guides my steps through the battleground
that I might be at peace in the midst of spiritual warfare.
Your Word gives strength for each day, giving me eternal wisdom
to know my enemy and his disfigured, flawed nature
May Your thundering Word of eternal Truth overcome
his twisted, deceptive whispering in my ears.
May I see that while his accusations point to my sin,
I stand before You forgiven, dressed in the righteousness of Christ.
As I go into battle let me never forget that I face a defeated loser
whose time is short and defeat is assured through Your work.
Give me the strength today, to face my enemy knowing
that today’s battle is only for today.
I face my enemy for a short time on earth.
I live forever in Christ, the lover of my soul.
You have exposed my enemy for who he is.
With this knowledge I face today with a renewed commitment
to do battle armed by faith walking victoriously with you.
When this day is over I ask that You give me healing balm
for whatever wounds I have suffered.
Grant me forgiving rest in Your grace where I have stumbled.
Shower me with joy and assurance where I have been victorious.
Fill me with courage to face the new day which lies ahead.
For Your glory and to the praise of Your Son
help me fight the good fight today.
I was inspired to compose this prayer from a sermon Bob Pittman preached from Revelation 12. This passage exposes Satan for who he is, a deceiving, defeated loser whose time is short.
